Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain cannot wait until Thursday to begin training again

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has grown by leaps-and-bounds since his days at Southampton as the 18 year old enters only his 2nd season with Arsenal on the back of an impressive Euro 2012 campaign. The winger was a surprise pick for England and although his chances were limited, he did showcase the raw ability that forced Roy Hodgson to include him in the squad. The Arsenal fans have also taken to the youngster, with his energy and endeavour making him an Emirates favourite.

And, he showed similar enthusiasm when talking to the club’s website about the new season: “To get back into training, see the boys and play football again – I just can’t wait for it. I spoke to the boss and Colin [Lewin] the physio and they said I am in on Thursday, but I asked if I could come in earlier! I just can’t wait to get started again and get cracking with the new season.”

‘The Ox’ was also confident that he had taken away a great deal of knowledge from his time in Ukraine/Poland to help him through his career as he added: “I learnt so much from going away to the Euros and it makes you want to strive for more.” With Theo Walcott’s future uncertain, Oxlade-Chamberlain could play a major role this coming season as Arsene Wenger continues his long re-building process.
