Only few days back Arsene Wenger confirmed that Alex Song is going nowhere, while today he revealed that the Cameron midfielder might be sold to Barcelona.
The 24-year-old midfielder insisted earlier that he is aware of the interest from the Catalan club but is happy to stay at Arsenal.
Barcelona had initially targeted Javi Martinez of Athletic Bilbao but failed to match his 40m Euro buy-out clauses. Thereafter, they turned their attention to the Arsenal player, who can play as defensive midfielder or at centre-back position.
He joined the club in 2006 and made 138 appearances for the club. Last season he played a key role to the side, as he racked up 14 assists in all competitions for the Gunners.
Speaking to BBC, Wenger said “Midfield is an area where we have much more freedom to make decisions,”
When asked about the situation of Song and any possibility of new additions, he replied “Both can happen,”
Barcelona lodged an initial bid of £13m for Song, but was rejected immediately. Arsenal wants a fee in the region of £18m for him as he has three years left in his current contract.

Wenger and the board -the gluttons. He says one thing and does another. He citicises Man C and Chelsea and yet he sells his best to the highest bidders even at his own detriment. Wenger is disappointing both fans and non fans with his actions. he should practise what he preaches
