Andre Santos caught driving like a maniac and could face jail

Arsenal left back Andre Santos was arrested on the suspicion of rash driving and could be sentenced to two years in prison if the case goes to crown court, provided he is convicted.

The 29-year-old defender was chased by the Cops in the early hours of Friday morning, were said to have struggled to keep up the pace with the car, as the left back was thought to have been driving at a speed up to 130mph.

The former Fenerbahce man was arrested 500 yards away from the club’s training ground in London Colney.

Sources close to The Sun reported “The allegation is that he was travelling at speeds up to 130 mph. Further enquiries are on-going to verify the speed using on-board police cameras and technical equipment.”

Santos was driving a Maserati GranTurismo supercar and it is the manner of driving that had caught the attention of Metropolitan police officers.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said to BBC News: “Shortly after 9.30am on Friday August 17, a 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop for police on the A1, near to Junction 22 of the M25.

    Jail? Unlikely.

If I were Santos I’d be more afraid of Wenger’s punishment. I wonder if this is why he did not get the start or if it was all down to footballing reasons.
