Another Arsenal player claims it is not money but silverware that is his motivation

Arsenal and England winger Theo Walcott says money in football is not his biggest motivator and that he is eager to win silverwares with Arsenal in the coming season.

Walcott who is yet to pen down a new contract with the club has been included on the pre-season tour of Asia, and despite landing in the final 12 months of his contract the ex-Southampton lad insists he is happy with them.

He was involved in a promotional tour, attending Nike’s Gunners Interschool KL Challenge at SMK Seksyen 11 in Shah Alam yesterday.

Answering to various question he said “The money in football is good but that is not why I turned professional. As a player, you want to win titles, which we (Arsenal) have not been doing, but I believe we will do so soon,”

“Arsenal are a club who provide opportunities to youngsters in the English Premier League (EPL). I came up the same way. We have many more moving up the ranks and, hopefully, the young ones will provide more depth.

“As for me, I want to build on my good outing from last season for Arsenal and England. Arsenal were unlucky not to do better but I think the club will be highly motivated to achieve something in the new season.”

The 23-year-old is eager to win titles with Arsenal as insists that he wants to be remembered after retirement.

He added “Furthermore, I want to show my children and grandchildren what a good player I was”
