While Arsenal fans will no doubt hate the fact they have lost superstar striker Robin van Persie to once arch-rivals Manchester United, the fact that they no doubt overlook is that in real world terms, the 24 million pounds that they earned from the transfer for a 29-year old in the final year of his contract makes them the real winners of this transaction and not United!
Alright, so Arsenal will miss Van Persie’s goals at the start of the season. However, the fact is in his 8 years at the club, how many times has RVP really delivered the goods? Just once.
He’s 29-years old, injury prone and has at best just another year left of being at his prime. He wasn’t going to sign a contract extension with Arsenal, would have destroyed their wage structure, and would not have let them to the Premier League title. Will he win the title with Manchester United, maybe, maybe not. But as far as Arsenal are concerned the two strikers that they have bought for the amount they earned from the RVP sale (even if the wrong order), should deliver more than 30 goals combined.
The Gunners in truth should be laughing all the way to the bank.

Why are you saying that Van Persi delivered goods only in one year ? Last year he scored 37 goals but in 7 years before he scored 95. I don’t think so in is bad.
Totally agree with article, RSVP will never have another season like he did.Anyway let’s bury the RSVP memory now and concentrate on supporting the current team to the fullest and seeing if we can shock all the critics and win the epl. Up the Gunners!!!!!!
