Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has spoken after the game against Newcastle United and admitted that any hopes of us winning the Premier League title were scuppered due to the amount of injuries picked up this season in key area’s once more – and I have to be honest and say, haven’t we heard this every season that injuries were to blame for non title contending once again this season?
If it is the case of injuries every time then surely that has to be looked into, as to why so many injuries occur every season more or less to the same players, when you look at I suppose an injury plauged Cesc Fabregas who was injured at some point for periods every season, who now at Barcelona has played his first full season injury free – surely that can’t just be coincidence, on the other hand we have a Robin van Persie playing his first season injury free so who knows what to suggest aout it, we do seem to have the most injury ravaged squad though every season in the Premier League compared to the rest, but could you also look at the depth of squad currently as being partly to blame, with no real covering quality players covering key positions when injuries occur to first team players.
After having turned their season around in recent weeks, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger spoke on the injuries to the squad, but praised the resilience to turn the season around for the club:
“If you look at our run from the Chelsea win until January you will see that our run was quite positive. But we had four full backs out in January and it is something that can work one game but it cannot work for five or six games.”
“For that I believe we were punished but the quality was always there. Today we have 52 points with ten games to go and we have gone through a difficult period in January but recently we have won the games in the last minute whereas we lost the games in the last minute against Fulham and Manchester United.”

I have to say often I find your take on things a little too presimistic generally but I am with you on this one. The excuse of injuries is always used and for me it just doesn’t wash. How is it that every year injuries are our reason. Every club has injuries but we have more. Why is that? Why doesn’t someone at Arsenal work it out? Also the quality of yuour squad players has to come into question? Nice deflection Wenger but it doesn’t wash anymore. I like evey other gooner love the first 11 after that its all a bit suspect…
