Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has spoken today on how confident he is that his team can carry on their fine form, and attain the coveted third place position in the Premier League at the end of this season, and after closing in and taking over Spurs who have held that third place position for a long period in this second half of the season, anything is possible now.
Arsene Wenger has urged his team to keep themselves focused and wants them to continue their fine run as they go into the final ten games of the season, and given that last October the club had dropped into 17th their lowest position in 75 years, the team themselves have done a fantastic job of turning the season around from it’s bleakest point to now looking at making the Champions League again next season, something that looked unlikely to be certain going back a few months.
Speaking on his team, and the confidence he feels with them Arsene Wenger said:
“It is a key time. The fixtures are difficult for Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham.”
“It will be about who does the best and they will be the team who focus on the next game and the next result.”
“Last season we were in four different competitions and we were knocked out of three in the space of two weeks. We are only human beings.”
“On top of that, some results were really going against us, you think about the last minute againstLiverpool at home and about Tottenham when we were up.”
“These two results killed the hope we had to play for the title and from then on we felt, subconsciously, too secure that we were in the top four of the league anyway.”
“Once you don’t go for the championship any more it’s different.”
“This season it’s totally different, we were completely out of the top four, we have come into it on a good run and now, of course, it is taking advantage of that momentum.”
