Arsenal defender happy for an ‘emotional’ return

Arsenal right back Bacary Sagna admits that his return to first team actions after a spell of six long months was special and emotional, and is happy to have achieved full three points at the end of the day.

His fellow team-mate Jack Wilshere also returned to action after 14 months of injury lay off, and Sagna has expressed his happiness for the highly promising 20-year-old youngster.

Arsenal were coming in to the match on the back of two successive defeats, and Mark Hughes’ QPR made life difficult for them at the Emirates.

In the end, Arsenal’s quality prevailed and the Frenchman is happy to have drilled a positive result by finding right solutions to their opponent’s resilience.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Sagna said “Me and Jack had a little chat before the game,” he told Arsenal Player. “We both felt a bit stressed, but it is a good stress because it is always a pleasure to play here at the Emirates in front of the fans.

“It was special for us, even more for him because he has been out for a long time. Me, I have been out for six months and the last time I played here I broke my leg, so it was very emotional.

“We had to win, and we showed great strength of character. We kept going right until the end, even if QPR played well defensively and had a great goalkeeper. It was not easy but we stayed focused until the end, and finally we found a solution.”
