Arsenal have joined the race along with several interested parties to secure the signature of Victor Wanyama from Celtic who is left frustrated at being played out of position and has expressed a desire to leave.
The 21-year-old defensive midfielder started his club career for Beerschot AC where he made 50 senior league appearances.
Celtic tried to sign him in 2010, but the Antwerpen club didn’t allow him to play his trade abroad. The Belgian side rebuffed offers from Russian outfit CSKA Moscow who were equally interested to get his signature.
He joined Celtic in 2011 completing a deal worth £900,000. Known for his robust tackling and mature ball distribution, he also possesses great composure on the ball.
The versatile youngster can play in defence too though it is not his natural position. Last season, Celtic used him mainly as a defender and the young Kenyan has voiced his frustration against it.
Arsenal are looking to add young quality midfielder in their ranks have shown interest in him and a fee around £7m would be enough to price him away from Celtic Park.
Manchester City are also monitoring his situation as the Premier League champions have concerns over the defensive midfield positions with English midfielder Gareth Barry injured and Nigel De Jong looking to depart elsewhere.
