With Paris Saint-Germain accruing some of the world’s biggest stars in order to mount a strong Champions League challenge, hometown youngster Mamadou Sakho could be ready to leave the club if not assured a regular starting berth next season.
The 22-year old is widely considered as one of Europe’s best young defensive prospects, and made 26 appearances last season for the Ligue 1 side as they finished second behind Montpellier in the French first division.
However, with manager Carlo Ancelotti recently sealing the signature of Thiago Silva and possibly a few more entrants yet to arrive before the transfer window closes, Sakho is demanding assurances over his role at the club.
Arsenal are said to be monitoring the player’s situation keenly, with Arsene Wenger ready to make a £10 million bid if Sakho announces his intentions of leaving Parc des Princes.
However, the Gunners are set to face competition for Sakho, with Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew keen to continue his French revolution with Sakho’s signature.
The Magpies also will be able to guarantee first-team action for the French international, something that Pardew feels could convince Sakho to move to Tyneside.
