Having seen star players embroiled in contract problems over the past few years that gave birth to several complex situations, Arsenal seem to have learnt from their past as the club set to open up contract negotiations with star attacker Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain in the near future.
The Sun reports that the North Londoners are looking to tie down the best possible years of the fellow Englishmen who have made an outstanding impact since joining the club from Southampton.
The youngster has four years remaining in his current contract, but it is reported that he will be rewarded a better contract and a salary hike to go with it.
Arsenal lost skipper Robin van Persie to Manchester United and Samir Nasri the season before to Manchester City, who had only a year left in their contracts, while fellow winger Theo Walcott has refused to put pen to the contract paper whose situation is more-or-less the same.
By putting a new contract in place for the 19-year-old, Wenger is looking to avoid another tricky situation in near future and even hoping to convince Walcott to commit his future at the club by providing him a better deal.
