Arsenal are firm favourite to land Nuri Sahin after Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho insisted he will not stand in the way if the player decides to settle elsewhere.
The 23-year-old boy from Turkey made senior debut for Borussia Dortmund at the tender age of 16 years thereby setting a record of becoming the youngest ever player to have played in Bundesliga. He made 135 appearances for the club and has scored 13 goals for the Bundesliga Champions.
In 2011 he moved to Real Madrid but couldn’t make any sort of impact and now is looking to kick start his career elsewhere and Arsenal is his preferred destination.
Talks are going on with the Gunners for a season long loan as Tottenham Hotspur have rejected the idea of cash plus the player for Luka Modric.
Real Madrid manager sympathizes with his condition feels it is tough for him to make a break through from the avalanche of midfielders Los Blancos have got.
“The point is, he’s a young boy, he wants to play every match. He wants to be happy to play, he wants to play to be happy,” Jose Mourinho told the reporters.
“And in Real Madrid with Xabi Alonso, with [Sami] Khedira, with Lassana [Diarra], [Esteban] Granero, [Mesut] Ozil, the situation is not easy.”
The former Chelsea manager said that he has no problem with Sahin staying as it will give him another options only.
“If he stays, he’s not a problem for me, he’s one more solution.
“We leave [the situation] in his hands. Be happy. Decide what you want to decide, to be happy. If you decide to leave we are going to help you to leave. If you decide to stay, we are going to support you and try to succeed this season.”
