Arsenal could move for highly rated England international Leighton Baines as manager Arsene Wenger is looking to solidify his left-back options.
The Frenchman has long been an admirer of the Everton defender, and even showed an interest for him towards the end of the transfer window, but the deal didn’t materialize while the club insisted there were no concrete offers placed for his signature.
Manchester United are also equally keen to add the 27-year-old to their ranks, but according to various reports, Arsenal are in a pole position to make a move for the Kirkby-born player, either in the January transfer window or in the summer next year.
The former Wigan defender, who has shown tremendous commitment to the Merseyside club since joining in 2007, has insisted that he might look challenges elsewhere if better opportunities come in the way. Baines has appeared 206 times for The Toffees and bagged 15 goals in all competitions.
The club values the player at £15m and feels it is the right price. However knowing how sceptical Wenger is about the values of player in the transfer market, it is to be seen whether he dishes out the amount asked for a player who is nearing in the thirties

why would we buy baines when we have gibbs and santos?
surely a right back would be a better option considering sagna has now broke his leg twice and jenkinson is still quite far away of the standard of a top 4 premiership side
I am not sure whether really wenger will look to add any defender especially to the left. I am sure he believes in his young two boys. And in my opinion, they are coming good. Maybe a right back could be welcome.
I cant see it personally, maybe if wenger offloads Santos?
It would be great to have him in the squad, I still want to see gibbs get plenty of games though!
Wild speculation!
