Arsenal restore their pride against AC Milan

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger spoke after the Champions League second round, second leg against Serie A side AC Milan and has insisted ‘our pride is restored’ after Arsenal came from a 4 – 0 deficit to beat the Italian champions 3 – 0 at the Emirates last night, many people including myself had put this game out of reach for the Gunners, but they proved a lot of people wrong with their performance.

They were unlucky not to score their fourth goal which would of equalled Milan’s aggregate score, and would of taken the game into extra time, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger however was proud of what his team managed last night and is proud of them for their commitment to the game to take the game to Milan and come close to getting the result they wanted with AC Milan going through just 4 – 3 on aggregate in the end.

Arsene Wenger spoke on how proud he was of his team:

“We restored a good performance tonight and we are disappointed because we touched qualification.”

“We had the chances and we didn’t do it, but we were very close. I felt that we suffered a bit in the second half physically because we gave a lot at Liverpool.”

“When we tired in midfield we had no options on the bench and the regret I have is there.”

“The players put in a faultless performance, with fantastic spirit and you can only congratulate the whole team.”

“If you win 3-0 at home, you can only say well done to the players.”

“You know that if you play 180 minutes and you miss 90, it is difficult at that level. We were very close.”
