Arsenal’s hope of landing the highly talented Spanish winger, Santi Cazorla has suffered a huge blow after Malaga Coach Manuel Pellegrini insisted that the player won’t be leaving the club for a meager fee of 20m Euros.
The player reportedly has said to have made contacts with the North London club as he is getting increasing frustrated with improper payment and broken promises.
Despite the Qatari owners pouring over 150m Euros at the club since taking over, the Spanish outfit can face relegation if they fail to pay the wages to their players and further may lose their Uefa licence and can be denied of Champions League participation.
Cazorla joined Malaga for 19m Euro last summer and has a buy-out clause of 45m Euro. However, he has made intentions clear that he doesn’t want to continue his career here, and reportedly has spoken to Arsenal about his desire in playing for the Gunners.
Arsenal looking to exploit Malaga’s parlous financial situation are preparing to lodge a formal bid of around 20m Euros to price Cazorla away from La Rosaleda.
However coach Pellegrini has a different view about the entire situation and the ex-Real Madrid manager is not willing to ‘gift’ his priced asset to anyone for such a reportedly quoted fee.
“Selling him for 20million is to gift him away, I don’t think the club is in a position to do that or has the intention to do it,” the coach said while speaking to the reporters.
“If important offers come in for players they are always worthy of consideration, but I don’t think that for 20million Santi is going to leave the club because it would be, as I said, a gift.”
