Arsenal have set their sights on Blackburn midfielder Steven N’Zonzi after the Frenchman demanded for a transfer.
The 23-year-old joined Rovers in 2009. He impressed in his first season at Ewood Park and bagged the player of the year award.
In 2010 he signed a five-year contract at the club. But seeing the club getting relegated and star players wanting to leave like Junior Hoilett, he has decided to kick start a new career elsewhere.
Manager Steve Kean who admitted this fact claimed that the club will be listening to offers and has slapped a price tag of £10M.
Arsenal trying to bolster their squad for the next season is looking to add quality midfielders in the side and the ex- Ameins player can play a good part in Wenger’s system.
He was left at the left ground while the team travelled to Austria to start their pre-season preparations.
Speaking to reporters, Kean said “Steven has asked for a transfer. I want players who want to be here. That’s the reason why Steven was left at the training ground when we went away.”
He added: “I’ve had a couple of meetings with his dad, who is his agent.
“He would like to play his football elsewhere, so we’ll be listening to offers if they come.
“We’ll see how it develops. At the moment we’re not planning to have him in the squad.”
