Arsene Wenger commands huge respect, players have never rebel and everyone trusts him

Manuel Almunia, former Arsenal goal keeper, insists that the respect Arsene Wenger commands from each and every player amazes him about the club and the person.

The 35-year-old who spent eight long years at Arsenal, featuring in 175 matches, has seen many highs and lows at Arsenal. Despite several high profile players have left Arsenal in recent years, Almunia maintains that the boss has never lost respect and is seen as a father figure at the club.

Speaking to Standard, the Spaniard said “Everybody respects him and they trust him, always,”

“In all my years at Arsenal, I didn’t see any players rebel against Arsene Wenger and that is strange at a big club.

He is like a father to the players and everyone has so much respect for him.

When asked about his opinion about Van Persie saga, he added “I think Robin saw that Arsenal didn’t sign players as good as he wanted them to be this summer. I know him well and he always wanted to win, he had been at Arsenal for a long time without winning and that was another main factor.”
