Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wants to wrap up the deal of M’Baye Niang as he looks to provide support to his attacking options upfront.
With Robin van Persie’s future still hanging on balance and strike duo Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski are short of match fitness Wenger has set his sight on the 17-year-old as a backup option who impressed everyone at Arsenal during his trial earlier this month.
The Frenchman has expressed his desire to play for Arsenal and Gunners boss is looking forward to speeding up the chase following his return from the pre-season trip to Asia.
Arsenal lodged an initial bid of around £4m with added bonuses but was rejected straightaway while Caen are looking forward to offloading their hot prospect for around £8m.
With other interested parties sniffing around especially Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, Wenger doesn’t want to lose the ground here in capturing him. The Frenchman has made it clear that striker Nicklas Bendtner and Park Chu-Young will have to find employers elsewhere.

santi casorla’s situation is a bit frustrating.malaga must accept whatever they call it so as to allow player to go where he wants……but ofcourse Arsenal!
Hm, a 17-year old backup striker straight from France? Nuts? If he signs, he’ll spend the first season at the Academy, and go out on loan for the next. The likelihood of Wenger playing an untested junior player these days is very, very slim. That’s definitely not the reason he wants to sign Niang.
