Arsene Wenger rules out selling Arshavin during this window

With an ever building pile of deadwood players still at the club, whether due to no-one else wanting them or Arsene Wenger still blindly believing in them, he has now continued this trend, as he has now confirmed that he will not be offloading our £16.5 million record signing from Russian club Zenit St Petersburg, winger Andrei Arshavin and all this despite the fact that Arshavin himself has reportedly told his agent, that he would like to leave Arsenal and the Emirates and return back to his homeland.

Now when Arshavin joined back in the January transfer window of 2009, he became our record signing at the club, his first few months, seemed to warrant that price tag, however following his impressive start, for many of us he has become nothing like the player he was or was rated at, he is by far our laziest player on the pitch, constantly fails to track and half the time shows no want or desire to still wear the proud red and white – again last seasons Carling Cup final showed that, when you looked at him coming out from the tunnel before the start, you could see in him that he was not impressed at such a small trophy.

And Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has come out once more to defend this player, citing the amount of injuries as another reason he will not sell Arshavin – now unless I’ve missed something surely selling him, would bring money and a place to be filled by a signing on the wings to replace him this January window, or have I missed something here?

Nevertheless here’s what Arsene Wenger had to say on the subject of Arshavin:

“On top of our injuries, we cannot lose players of that quality. It is too difficult “.

“Sometimes the visual impression you get from a game has been frustrating, but he is very efficient. “

“We can all have a big responsibility but we need confidence for what we do.”

Okay make of that what you will, he is efficient – sorry boss but you seem to be seeing a very different player to what everyone else sees in him.
