After Sergio Busquet did a good PR campaign for Arsenal midfielder Alex Song, it was the turn of Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta to throw light on the ongoing speculation.
After a turbulent start to his Arsenal career Song started to show his real potential towards the end of 2010, and in last season he was one of the pillar of strength for the Gunners in midfield.
Arsenal are building a strong team this season and players of top quality like Santi Cazorla, Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud have been signed up.
Arsene Wenger would certainly want to keep the services of Song, especially in absence of two star midfielders -Tomas Rosicky and Jack Wilshere- both sidelined due to injury.
Meanwhile Barcelona are keen on adding a quality midfielder who can also play in central defence. Javi Martinez of Athletico Bibao has been linked with the Catalan giants, but the Blaugrana are also venturing other options.
Iniesta is an admirer of the 24-year-old’s passing ability and feels Barcelona style suits him perfectly.
“He’s a prodigy,” Iniesta told Sky Sports as quoted by ESPN.
“I don’t know how many years he’s been playing but he isn’t a discovery from yesterday.
“He’s a good player and I’ve seen in a couple of publications that he could be joining our team.
“I don’t know if that would be the case but if he comes here we’ll welcome him the best we can.
“If he comes here it’s because he has the ability to play here, no doubt.”
