It has been 7 years since Arsenal have won a trophy, and had it been any other top club, chances are the manager in question would have been sacked at least a couple of times over. One doubts whether even a legend like Sir Alex Ferguson can survive seven years trophy-less, but somehow Arsene Wenger has managed to do so.
And with the Arsenal boss running arguably the best financially managed club not just in English football, but perhaps the world, there is little incentive for the Chairman and the Board of Directors to sack him.
However, will Wenger manage to survive another season should the Gunners not win a trophy? Probably yes. After all, it seems in modern football it is not the fans who the manager is accountable to anymore, their only job is to pay high ticket prices and fill the owners’ coffers. It is the board who runs the club, and as long as Wenger is keeping them financially secure his job is very safe indeed
So the question for Arsenal fans is this, can Wenger survive another trophyless season? Please leave your comments and opinions below.

Wenger will always survive. They don’t care about the fans anymore and that is final!
My greatest sports mistake ever in life is keeping Arsenal in my heart and I cannot change it now.
I am just stuck with my decision.
Yes… nuff said.
he can survive ten seasons without a trophy.because weven if the fans treatin to revolt, the management will just pump little more money into the transfer market and some few new faces will be added to the squad. However wenger still remains
Letx watch nd see wat Mr wenger av 4 d entire arsenal fanz…nd i belif in luck sometimex.
The question that should be asked is, can the board stay in power if they don’t back the manager financially for the coming season
You’ve said it all, he’ll surely survive many more years to come as long as he satisfies the purse of the so-called board of directors.
Arsenal board are jus enjoying d fans money, well I wan to let kn dt does fans are all humans beings 1 day d wil weakup 1 day bycut does matchers and sit at home and watch it on tele, maybe frm dt day d club and its useless boards of director will weakup.
If we don’t win now’t again next season for the 8th year running, yes it would be time for change. To enter into a 9th season would drive us all to drink, it certainly would be ONE OVER THE 8 for every dazed and bewildered Gooner.
Wenger is accountable to the board, not the fans, and that’s how it should be.
I’d take good football over trophies anytime. In my opinion, the best Arsenal team I have seen was that of 2007-08. Some breath-taking football that season.
all depends on what his remit is as laid down by the board of directors. if as for the last 7 seasons they ask him to derive a £20m profit on player sales whilst generating an increase in income based upon, finishing in the champions league qualification position as well as progressing from the group stages of the champions league. then he will survive. If the board are led to believe that winning a domestic cup is more important then they will include that in their targets. However, there is not a massive difference financially to winning the league and actually finishing lower down. If you look at Arsenal’s income last season (excluding matchday revenue) compared to man utd or man city, it is in fact arsenal that made more money. Only chelsea achieved more prize money, yet their matchday revenue was much lower. the plain fact is fans count trophies, board counts profits. unfortunately our manager is employed by the board not by the fans
Wrong, wrong, wrong. AW has had money to spend for 2 – 3 years (since the stadium debt peaked and began to reduce ). Plus AW dictates exactly who we buy and sell. The flat wage structure was to please him as well. Then the big accent on attack without due diligence in defence is all down to him. Shall I go on ?
If we presume that the manager won’t be given the right funds, which from the comments it looks like you have, who is there better than Wenger.
Gadiola is there!!!1.
chris, the only one making any sense here. And no, wenger should not be managing Arsenal any longer, he’s become a parody, and the board must go as well.
Don’t be so bloody stupid!
