Djourou’s agent rubbishes AS Roma link

Phew! Djourou’s agent has rubbished reports of the defender moving away to AS Roma in January. I’m not being sarcastic when I say ‘Phew!’ either. To be blunt, we need Djourou to stay put until at least the end of this season. Especially more so now that rumors are surfacing that Sagna may be leaving.

In any case, whilst Djourou’s agent has been quick to snub the Roma rumor, he was also hinting that the player needs more playing time if he’s to remain at Arsenal. Djourou’s agent, Flavio Ferraria took the opportunity to reveal that his client would be open to move to the Serie A in the future in order to secure more playing time. The Swiss International has yet to feature for the Gunners’ this season and this has led to rumors surfacing of the player’s woes within the Emirates.

Flavio Ferraria, has previously revealed that the defender was the subject of an £8.1 million offer from an unnamed Italian side, but claims that any links with Roma are speculation.

“There has been absolutely no contact with Roma and I don’t know where these rumours have come from,” Ferraria told calciomercato.

“I met Johan recently, but we did not talk about Roma because there’s really nothing to say.

“There is no real possibility that he will leave Arsenal as he is contracted to them until 2015. However, we will evaluate the current situation in January.

“Obviously he would like to play in Italy because we have discussed this several times before, but he hasn’t a preference for any specific club.

“I think he would do very well at Roma because he is young and versatile and the most important thing is that he wants to play with continuity.”
