Former Arsenal player says Arsenal should accept £12 Million or so for Robin van Persie

Former Arsenal player Stewart Robson wants manager Arsene Wenger to take a bold decision in the matter of Robin van Persie saga and must show the exit door to the Dutch international.

The 28-year-old proclaimed publicly last month that he won’t be renewing his contract, which has only a year left to expire.

This has led to many speculations in the media about his future with both the Manchester clubs and Italian outfit Juventus have shown tremendous interest and have lodged unsuccessful bids in getting his signature.

Arsenal however, wants over £20m for the ex-Feyenoord man and even Wenger hinted that the striker might be forced to see out his contract at the club.

This according to Robson is an act of short sightedness and feels that the club must reduce the valuation if they intend to prepare life without him.

“At the moment it doesn’t look like anyone is willing to pay the price Arsenal are asking for Robin van Persie,” the former Arsenal and West Ham midfielder told the Sports Bar.

“Arsenal could end up being stuck with Van Persie, which some people might say is a good thing, but he doesn’t want to be there. It’s a difficult situation for the player, the club and the fans. They should accept something around £12million.

He added “This is a player who’s said he’s not going to sign for Arsenal again. I don’t see how it can work if a player doesn’t want to be at the club.”

Might as well keep him 1 more year instead of selling him for that low. His goals if fit can actually help us win trophies and qualify for champs league which is very lucrative. If he gets injured no1 will want to pay a player wages to sit on the bench and may look away. Maybe that will cause him to sign a new contract.

i agree with stuart robson!hes said hes not going to stay, hes into last year of contract, and hes not getting any younger,so just to reles his wage will free money up and if we get£12-£15mill then even better we should not get greed on sentament!

Why doesn’t that f**k**g idiot Robson shut up and go away. Considering he used to be a gunner he never has the best interest of the club at heart and is only ever negative. He is a disgrace.

Just can’t take Robson seriously after his ridiculous ‘Theo is a sprinter not a footballer’ nonsense. Wengy knows what he’s doing as his refusal to be dragged into the media nonsense and shrewd business this summer attests. Being stuck with RVP is a ridiculous way of looking at it, if he stays he’ll be 30 and his best years will be behind him. His lust for ££ could well be coming back to bite his greedy butt.
