Frimpong reminded of his responsibilities when representing Arsenal

Arsenal youngster Emmanuel Frimpong was reprimanded by the club after getting involved in a twitter row with a Tottenham Hotspur fan, branding him as “Scum Yid” that might have a racial connotation to it.

This came at a time when the football world is rocked by series of racist remarks and consequences. Latest being Rio Ferdinand twitter saga where the Manchester United defender used the phrase ‘choc ice’ to denote Ashley Cole.

It seems like the young Arsenal midfielder has used an offensive phrase while exchanging conversations through twitter, a social networking site.

The 20-year-old youngster was replying a Spurs supporter in twitter, who had “prayed” the midfielder would break his arms and legs.

Frimpong responded with an abusive language that had an undertone of racial remarks before the post was swiftly deleted from his account.

The Ghanaian who represented England at U16 and U17 level was spoken to by his club following this incident.

An Arsenal club spokesman cleared the issue by saying: “The”Arsenal Football Club is aware of the comment made by Emmanuel Frimpong on Twitter over the weekend. Emmanuel has been reminded of his responsibilities when representing the Club and has deleted the comment. Arsenal is committed to encouraging and creating an inclusive culture and we work hard to promote initiatives to support this goal through our Arsenal for Everyone programme.”

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur player Danny Rose apologized for calling his own fans “yiddos”. Using the same social media, he posted “Apologies if offended anyone. I hear the fans chant it all the time… So again very sorry!!”

Exactly, the fans chant it all the time. A bit hypocritical do you not think? Racism is full of hypocrisy.
