Arsenal have a major problem. He’s small and blonde and Russian-he’s Arshavin. Arguably an all time low for the winger was being omitted from the 18 man squad that traveled to France in Arsenal’s Champions League opener. It was a weird omission and one that hasn’t been justified through injury so one only assumes that Arshavin has been dropped from the squad.
The stickler is not that Arshavin has been dropped, if that really is the case, but rather that at 80k per week, he’s one of Arsenal’s highest paid players! Anyone else see the problem here? Surely if the Russian isn’t going to be used on the wing or in the midfield then it’s only logical that Arsenal sell Arshavin to the highest bidder in January. Let’s face it, Wenger isn’t going to use Arshavin and at 31, no other team in their right minds will pay 80k per week for a player that’s 31 and probably beyond his prime. There’s no use debating it because either way Arsenal don’t come out with a profit. At a reported 13 million, Arsenal aren’t logically hoping to recover even a fraction what they paid for him.
In fact, I don’t think Arsenal are the problem here. Arshavin is. He’s smiling all the way to the bank. He’s getting a huge salary, not travelling, not playing and only pitching up to training. He’s going to be collecting a over 320k every month for staying fit until the end of June next year and Arsenal can’t even bum him off for a free transfer because of his inflated wages. For a club that prides itself on doing good business, Arshavin is a big embarrassment for us.

We cannot sale him in January because he will be a free agent. We lost the money. I personally think he still got the spark, great impact player.
This is the issue with good contracts for good players. AA23 was seen as a superb buy when he came and the first few games. However, you never quite know how they turn out and we’re stick with a player who cost us around £4m-5m per year.
In todays world workers get redundancy pay if their employment is terminated. In my day you just got the DCM, no pay just the DCM.
For those of you too young to remember ,the DCM is `Don`t come Monday`. …..full stop.
Am I jealous? You bet your arse I am.
With Arsenal looking to sell Arsharvin and Chamakh in January keeping them away from Uefa CLub ensures they are not cup tied.
An utter shock to learn Arshavin gets those wages, but we studder at giving Alex Song 70k per week, who is to be held accountable for this gaff, surely the worst of Arsenal when it comes to finances… SOng is 24 you moroons!
Arshavin deserve to be given a 2nd chance. Though he need to improve on his tracking back to defend as a team. He’s still one of those technically gifted players at Arsenal. He still showed that he has great potential during Euro 2012.
