Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany is hoping for Dutch ace Robin van Persie to join him at the Etihad Stadium this summer, calling the Arsenal striker ‘near perfection’.
The Citizens are currently in the midst of a three-way struggle to sign the 28-year old striker, while the Gunners too have been bullish over the possibility of Van Persie overturning his previous decision to leave the Emirates, and sign a new deal with the club.
Kompany, speaking at the launch of a partnership between SOS Children’s Village Beijing and Manchester City, unsurprisingly was glowing in his praise of Van Persie, suggesting that the player, who scored 30 times for the Gunners last term, would be a welcome addition to their squad at Eastlands.
“A player like this would be an incredible addition to any team that he joined,” Kompany said.
“His movement is near perfection and the stats show his finishing. He has led by example at Arsenal so, yes, he is a great player.”
26-year old Kompany, who first faced Van Persie in 2006 when he was at Hamburg, said that the player had improved by leaps and bounds since that meeting.
Kompany nevertheless was confident that the Citizens would improve regardless of Van Persie’s arrival, suggesting that the squad was strong enough to retain their Premier League title even if Roberto Mancini decided not to improve his squad over the off-season.
