Olivier Giroud unfazed by his miss against Sunderland, he expects many more opportunities to score

New Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud failed to take advantage of a gilt-edged opportunity to become an instant fan favourite as he smashed his 82nd minute effort against Sunderland on Saturday agonizingly wide in Arsenal’s season opener that ended 0-0.

Giroud, who had joined the Gunners this summer in the hope of partnering Robin van Persie, now finds himself as the new focal point of the Arsenal attack after Arsene Wenger accepted a big money offer from arch rivals Manchester United for the Dutchman.

The 25-year old Frenchman, who led Montpellier to an unexpected Ligue 1 triumph last season, is new on the big stage, and has urged the Arsenal fans to be patient with him while he finds his feet around the Emirates and English football in particular.

In an interview with the Daily Mirror, Giroud shared, It was a game ball, but the coach told me that I had not to worry about it. This could have been the dream start, but in Montpellier, I did not score for my first game, so I am not worried. Here, I will have plenty of chances and I will score.”
