Young Arsenal midfielder/winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, has impressed many people in his short time with Arsenal, from England manager Fabio Cappelo to his current boss Arsene Wenger, and Wenger is so impressed by his first half season with the club, he has described the progress made by Chamberlain, as similar to that of Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, has said that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has the same attributes of Rooney, as well as having the England player’s fearless streak in him, as many observed in the recent match at the Emirates last Sunday when, Alex Chamberlain terrorised the United defence for 74 minutes until he wa brought off.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain arrived at the Emirates with a lot of hype and potential surrounding him, not only for his ability and potential, but also his fee of £15 million all together for him, which saw him become the most exspensive signing during last summers transfer window.
Speaking on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger had this to say on his progress so far:
“He looks to have [the same fearlessness],”
“Now he has to show that he can play all the time but I believe he can. We have produced more players in the last 15 years than all of the top clubs in Europe put together and we are not scared to play players when they are of the level. I believe he has [that level].”
“He can play centrally as well but he has grown up as a winger,” he said. “And now I think as well he can play central midfield because he can produce a long pass, he can dribble. At that age, you know, you start first on the wing.”

I like your stories ,Danny, keep up the good work.
Wenger has a habit of putting his foot in his mouth. Whilst we haven’t had much chance to see if he is correct on Ox, he amused me earlier last year when he compared RVP with Messi???? Having watched Barca often on ESPN I find this statement amusing – RVP didn’t make the top 30 players in Europe. I have always thought that Bergkamp was far more skilled than RVP – who has performed well over the past year and long may he continue to do so with more support around him.
Then a couple of years ago he said he had the ‘strongest and biggest squad ever’!!!! Whilst there is a need to encourage and praise your players – they eventually sunk without trace – as they have for the last 6/7 years.
It is interesting to see that Crawley Town’s policy of getting the most experienced players at the level they play is starting pay dividends – Perhaps Wenger should take note!!!! That’s why Chapman was successful in the 30′s.
AOC is young, fearless and talented just like Wayne Rooney, so play him like Sir Alex did.
Oxlade chamberlain hav not done mch to b compared to Wyne Rooney‘s effort, may b in tym to come, not now
arsene needs to play him as a second striker in future, just like rooney playing it and leading the man utd attack.
