Podolski wants to play more for Germany!

Podolski is eager and ready to play more for Germany. It seems that his new move to us this season has sparked some kick into his national career and that he’s ready to prove that he deserves more playing time. The Arsenal forward has played just 15 minutes in each of Germany’s last two qualifiers and is in the squad again for the fixtures against the Republic of Ireland and Sweden.

Speaking to Kicker, Podolski was quoted as saying, “Everyone wants to play, but it is important that we reach a common goal. It doesn’t matter which position I play. I would play at left-back!”
The German international has been in great form since moving to Arsenal scoring twice in his last seven games for the Gunners’. His new found enthusiasm is attributed to his summer move to the Emirates where he has found life easy linking up with players like Cazorla and Arteta.

The German International suffered a minor injury during training with Germany, but the national side’s assistant coach Hansi Flick has released a statement indicating that the injury is not serious.

“Lukas and Mario [Gotze] received treatment,” Flick told reporters.

“Lukas Podolski had some problems with his ankle, Mario with some muscle problems. We decided to spare him towards the end of training today when it became a bit more intensive.”

I find the injury to Podolski irritating. Not only because it could affect his playing time at Arsenal but also because I want him to play for Germany. In a way, I kind of wish he could play a full hour for the national team-just to showcase his improvement since joining the Gunners’.
