Silly season is upon us and like it or not, Arsenal will be rumored around a lot of strikers in the coming months. However, none have looked as promising as Fernando Llorente.
Fernando Llorente has been in the news since he disclosed that he will not be extending his contract with the Spanish side Athletic Bilbao. The Spanish forward has entered the last year of his contract and reports are that Bilbao are prepared to let him go in January instead of letting him leave for free at the end of the season.
Reports have circulated that Arsenal are among the front runners to sign the want away striker, along with Chelsea and Man City. Obviously, the Gunners will be hard pressed to compete with both clubs if a money war emerges but with Chelsea and Man City already exposing a surplus of attacking options, Llorente may find more playing time at the Emirates.
Arsenal are currently speculated to be in the market for a striker after Olivier Giroud’s fluttered start to his English career. With the Gunners reportedly needing a more reliable attacking option, one has to wonder if Llorente is the right man for the North London club.
Wenger is an admirer of the striker and is seeking extra cover up front and Llorente may just be the high profile goal scorer Arsenal needs. Arsenal have had to implement a rotation policy upfront and may be looking to add extra firepower to their attacking lineup. Llorente was previously linked with the Gunners in the summer transfer period but nothing came of the rumors. Arsenal are expected to cement their interest should Giroud continue to run dry in the goals department.
