Theo Walcott still has a role to play at Arsenal

Now, lets not get ahead of ourselves here, Walcott is a winger. He has remarkable pace and on the day, when his confidence is running faster than he is, he can be devastating. The problem with Walcott, as we all know, is his consistency. Step in his replacement, The Ox. So much so has The Ox grown that he’s now taken Walcott”s position as first choice right wing. So where does that leave Walcott for us?

On the bench? Come on people, we not going to let a talent like that rot on the bench. I like The Ox, I do, but he’s not the most consistent player either. Look at the Anfield game. First half he was lost. Yes, he’s got the potential to be dangerous but right now he’s not the complete player. So then, the way i see it, it’s really a toss up on who performs better on the pitch on the day. 50-50 gamble, if you ask me, but we know The Ox will once again get a crack before Walcott. That’s all fine, but then why did we fight to keep Walcott for?

Walcott is not a bench player. He isn’t a super sub and no matter how many people say he’s looked good when he’s come off the bench, he”s just not that type of player. Other clubs will come in and offer him more playing time and it will be as simple as that-Theo will be out of the Emirates. Wenger isn’t stupid though, and he’s not going to just let that happen. Walcott has expressed salary increases and blah blah blah but what if we gave him a chance to play in a position that Wenger has already hinted at for Walcott?Striker!

Walcott isn’t your coventional striker. He’s not the strongest player, he’s not the tallest player and his movement in the box isn’t the greatest(although not completely tested) but he does have pace and like i said, given the day, he’ll run a whole team down to nothing. So then, what are our playing options for Walcott? Well, we only have two, either keep him as a sub or give hima chance and play him up front. We’ve done the winger-sub thing…
