Man City boss getting frustrated over the Robin van Persie saga

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is left frustrated by the lack of initiative from the board members at the club in luring Arsenal skipper Robin van Persie.

The Italian is having an opinion difference with chief football administrator Brian Marwood and has urged the club’s hierarchy to back him.

Marwood is taking a safety path as he wants to see the back of fringe players at the club, the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz. He is also willing to offload Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko before going for the Dutchman as the club is looking to balance the books to comply with the rules of Financial Fair Play.

Van Persie who will turn 29 next month and has only one year left in his present contract is being chased by Manchester United and Juventus.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wants him to stay at the club but if he decides to leave the Gunners won’t be selling him at less than £20M.

The Italian outfit are in the pole position to capture his signature as the Old Lady are thought to be prepared to pay the £20M which Arsenal are claiming as the minimum price and even ready to offer £190,000-a-week after tax.

Mancini having signed a new 5-year contract at the club after delivering the league title in May is in a pole position to bargain with the owners.
