Arsenal midfielder Arteta says despite similarities he’s not Cesc

Arsenal summer signing Mikel Arteta, has continued with his interview on COM Radio, and spoke on the similarities between himself and former midfielder and captain Cesc Fabregas, mainly owing to Mikel Arteta;s arrival at the club after Fabregas had departed to rejoin boyhood club Barcelona, and Arteta who also hails from the Catalan region and played at Barcelona, has distanced himself aaway from any similarities between himself and Fabregas.

Arteta spoke in depth about his time at Barcelona to Com Radio, and has insisted that he does not want to be seen as Fabregas’s replacement, although at the same time has conceded he would relish the chance to play alongside him for the Spanish national team, something that Arteta has never managed to accomplish so far in his career.

“I do not want to be Cesc’s substitute and I have no thoughts like that,”

“My dream and aim is to win a big trophy for the club and to play for Spain. I would have loved to have had the chance to play for Spain, but I have not yet and I hope that someday that will change.”

“I have always wondered if I could have made it in the Barca first team. That is very difficult though and a limited option. To reach the team is not so tough, but staying there is,”

“When I left I knew what I was doing. Pep [Guardiola] was still in the first team, Xavi hardly played and I know that it would be a long and difficult time waiting for a chance.”

“That is why I decided to take the decision to leave. I am very proud to have been at Barcelona though.”
